After a bout of ill health, I ventured out today with my family to take a walk around some beautiful local gardens run by the National Trust. These gardens are incredibly special to me not only because they are a local treasure but they have provided me with a place of work for a time, but now a sanctuary from the every day grind of life. Without meaning to edge closer to the realms of Hippies, there is nothing quite as healing as seeing the first Snowdrops push through the soil, their dewy white flowers dancing on the chilly winter breeze. When in life, things get overwhelming, a little fix of nature usually does the trick. Here's to the New Year, may all your floral endeavours succeed. Photographs from Angelsey Abbey, Cambridgeshire. Look down at your feet . . . You never know what you might be missing.
I will be forever fascinated by the white bark of this birch trees.
A quiet spot, away from the crowds, a place to gather your thoughts.
